Considering I've been picking up whole Robotic Invention System sets
(version 1.0 with the same RCX) for as low as $140, I don't see the point of
spending $130 for just the brick. I think TLC still hasn't gotten pricing
down yet. The price on RIS sets was cut a while back, but not the RCX
price. It seems that I'm STILL tripping over old 1.0 sets in shelfworn -
and usually discounted - condition. I'm not alone given the number of sets
available on eBay at any given time. I'd rather buy a used RIS set with the
extras than pay full price for the brick. Even if only interested in the
brick, you can buy a set and part out the sensors, wheels and such and come
up with a far lower price.
