Personally, I would really like to see Pick-A-Brick sold by weight!  I
realize that the store doesn't typically cater to many people like me who
come in and by 15-20 cups of PAB .  It is curious that PAB is sold at LLCA
by weight and at the new stores by the cup.  Any of you insiders know why?

Not that I have any real clue, but I'd probably guess because one or many of:
- extra maintenance keeping a scale accurate
- having customers constantly waiting to weigh their winnings, until they had
gotten up to their desired price
- making sales clerks have to weigh lot after lot (may slow down the checkout
line, not that it looks like much of a problem)
- better value for Lego? (Not sure about this, but possible I suppose)

Hmm... I was about to add "customers returning and contesting the weight" to the
list, but then I realized: how do they handle returns with PAB? I mean, not to
sound like a totally sneaky bastard, but couldn't you carefully stack a PAB,
then return that same PAB unstacked, saving the excess for yourself? There's an
argument where selling by weight helps quite a bit, cuz you can refund them the
weight of the cup they bring back, rather than the weight of what they paid for.
Though, I guess really the way to go is to simply deny returns on PAB. Anyone
know the answer to that one?

I had the opportunity to visit the new Chicagoland LEGO store at Woodfield Mall last night. Tim Courtney and Ondrew Hartigan (who both work there but were not on duty) offered to meet me at the store and I met up with them shortly after 7:00. Over (...)
