The United States Postal Service no longer offers the Small Packet shipping
option when sending an item internationally! This is definately bad for us
LEGO buyers and sellers because this will triple the amount it costs to send
the average LEGO set overseas. For example: I sold a 6024 to someone in
Germany months ago and it cost me $4.00 to send it to him small packet. I
called up the USPS today, and with Parcel Post, to only other airmail
option, the same package will cost $14.00! For a 6024! A 12 oz package!
Unbelieveable!

I just did a check at <http://ircalc.usps.gov/>

This one is the replacement for small packet air "Global Airmail Letter Post 4
- 7 Days $7.55 Max. length 24", Max. length, height, depth combined 36"". Note
that they call it letter, but it has the same dimensional requirements as Small
Packet used to have.

True, I sent out a small package to Ireland the first day after the
changeover, and it took the lady (who had worked at the post office for 23
years) 15 minutes to figure out what to send it as.  She quoted me different
prices, from $16 to $5.60!  She finally charged me the $5.60 and siad it
would take 10 days to get there.  She stamped the box "air mail" and "small
packet" and sent it off, but when I looked at the recipt, it said
"Ireland-letter-post-air"  Ummmmmmmm, ok.  Strange it is.
