Hi everyone,

I've done this before, but only bloody chunks at a time.  I would like to get
out from under my Gi-gundo Space-complete & Star Wars-complete Lego collection.

It's taking up too much time and space (no pun intended), I haven't built
anything in over two years, and most of the joys of owning a lot of really
unique stuff have gone away as they are now just collecting dust.  Some of these
items are true, shimmering prizes that need to be appreciated by someone else.

Among this 450+ set, entirely boxed (sometimes MISB) collection, is the
following (off the top of my head):

-- Open-boxed 1593 (outer sleeve anyway)
-- MISB 1999 value pack with 6807
-- MISB 6711 Space Mini-Figures
-- MISB 0012-0015 Space Mini-Figures
-- 9355 DACTA Space Theme set with tub and cards
-- MISB 1977 Space Value Pack
-- MISB 1983 Space Value Pack
-- 1507, 1510, all other value packs, all with backing cards, some sealed
-- both versions of 493, both boxed
-- original instructions for 6861 and 6862 Super-models
-- MISB 801 "Space Rocket" from the '60s
-- two boxed 358 Rocket Bases
-- boxed Lunar Lander sets from 1975 (both 367 and US version)
-- all other Classic Space sets, all boxed, US AND non-US versions
---- incl. rarities like 1580, 1968, 6806, and 918, all, to repeat, boxed! :)
-- All Futuron sets, boxed (incl. monorail)
-- All Blacktron I and II, boxed
-- All Space Police I, boxed
-- All M-Tron, boxed
-- All Exploriens & Unitron boxed (incl. monorail)
-- Monorail extension tracks 6921 and 6347, both boxed
-- 1979 and 1983 packaged versions of 305, 306, and US versions, some sealed
-- All classic Star Wars sets from 1999-2004, including MISB 7190 M.F., MISB
10030, and everything else either sealed or open-box
-- MISB 3-set Ice Planet VP {no other IP sets}
-- #54 UFO Action set from EU with CD
-- Kabaya Insectoid and Misc. Space 4-packs, both MISB
-- rare Insectoid VP with Mask, plus rare Hornet Scout + Space Spider
-- Fun little boxes like 1858, 1916, 1954, 6901, 1731, and a lot more
-- {no Spyrius sets, well there might be a 6835  :o)  }
-- there are a dozen more surprises that I won't even bother to list!

-- For a complete listing, either check my set list here on Lugnet, or the
multitude of categorized, anal-retentive lists and commentaries on
umop.com/lego.htm (both lists are around 99% accurate)

AND...the coup de gras (spell?), a 45,000+ piece Bricklink shop ("Dave's Lego
Space") with tons of itty-bitty shelf storage, all immaculately sorted, retail
value of all pieces currently exceeding $8000

Basically, I can't put a price tag on all this that anyone would be comfortable
with, so I'll just say email me with offers; if I accept one, I'll update this
thread.  Don't be cheap, please...there's things in here no one's even seen
before.  About a dozen of the oddities listed in LUGNET's own database are
pictures taken from this weird, unique pile of awesomeness.

I can say that I will readily accept an offer that is probably less than half
what any professional Bricklink shop owner could turn it around to.  I'd do it
myself but just can't package everything up myself to do it.  Plus, I want it
all gone in one go.  I can't bear to watch this prized collection deteriorate
sale by sale, over likely more than a year's time.  I've done it before in 2000,
and actually got about 80% through it all, only to buy back everything again
from various other places ever since, often at 200%!  That's no way to get out
from the shadow of this hobby.  No, it must be done all at once.

Which ultimately leads me to:

THE DOWN SIDE:

1)  I have a badly broken leg (complete with ugly-looking external fixator!), so
it is not within my means to box up everything and haul it to the post office or
UPS office.  THIS IS FOR PICKUP IN FARMINGTON, CT (near Hartford) ONLY.  Sorry.
But hey, maybe it'd be worth a truck rental (you'd need one, even if you're in
CT) and a long weekend of driving.

2)  I can't even pack it all up for you (although I do have TONS of cardboard
boxes here).  As I said, my leg is in bad shape and it's hard enough just taking
care of myself, let alone packing up a Lego collection.  I guess I can wait the
year it'll take to get the fixator off and re-learn how to walk, but I thought
perhaps there'd be some of you who wouldn't mind extra effort to get that year's
jump, and pay less, too (plus you'll be able to see everything you get before
dropping dime one on it).  Next year I'll offer again but likely with a bigger
price than I'd be willing to take today.

3)  To re-iterate, individual items are simply not for sale.  All $1000 offers
for one or two items alone will be refused.  The appeal of this sale is the
completion of the collection.  It is literally a once-in-a-blue-moon
opportunity.

So check out my lists, maybe get some partnerships going with fellow collectors,
or mull over the investment potentials you who are BL shop owners (or you who'd
like to be!) might be able to afford.

Well wishings can be done here on LUGNET...save the emails for serious offers
only.  Thanks for your support!

(...) Replying to myself... Got no public replies to this but just enough private ones to land a sale. Just figured I'd let anyone potentially interested know that this collection is officially sold as of today, and removed from my house. As of (...)
