Hi Bryan,
I believe there are some older postings about this. One source that works
rather well is available from Walmart and other such stores. Look in the
crochet and knitting area and find the spools of "cro-sheen"! There is a
black version that is very close to the lego original. You have to buy a
whole spool, but it's fairly cheap!
