As I understand it jambalaya (don't what that word actually means) is for
broken parts and other parts which are not useable.
I read jambalaya, but there seems to be a posint only every 2 weeks, so
gettign somewhere there seems not possible.

I AM looking for certain broken train parts, but haven't got any luck so far
using jambalaya.

What Jambalaya is for is a place to coordinate the shipping of boxes of
LEGO parts around to people who are interested. It isn't strictly for
broken or otherwise unusable parts (however there have been some "Junk"
boxes which had that as their purpose). Basically what happens is that
someone has a bunch of parts they aren't personally interested in, so
they put them into a box, and call for people interested in receiving
that box. As the box travels around, folks trade parts they themselves
don't need for parts they might need from the box. In some cases, the
originator doesn't expect the box back, in other cases the box will
eventually return to the originator.

Unfortunately, it seems that there are several pitfalls with this idea:

- shipping cost gets paid for each recipient
- it's hard to make a fair trade and still feel you get your money's
worth
- it can take a long time for the box to wend its way around

It ends up being less hassle to just post a for-trade or wanted listing
in lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, even if you are looking for broken
parts. Of course at some point, I will probably send another junk box
off but that is the only thing I see really working, and even that needs
work.
