EBAY Listing Fee Increases - Anti-LEGO?

They're increasing the listing fees across the board. In particular, they're discouraging small auctions by increasing the opening bids on lots starting under $10 by 20%, whereas other opening bid listings are only increasing 10%. Here's the (...) I guess they have to pay for all those TV ads somehow. Yahoo! just started charging this past week for auctions. They only charge to list, no charge on the final value: $0.01 - $9.99 $0.20 $10.00 - $24.99 $0.35 $25.00 - $49.99 $0.75 $50.00 and up (...) (...) fee. (...) It's time to short the stock (although the stock is down substancially from its high of about 128$ in march 2000). Rather than leave it at .25 they raised it to .30. How many (...) (23 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: EBAY Listing Fee Increases - Anti-LEGO?

This increase will not discourage people from listing. If it does discourage people from listing, then there will not be as much items up for bid, so then the person who did list item(s) will reap the benefit of more bids on their auction(s), which (...)   Re: EBAY Listing Fee Increases - Anti-LEGO?

(...) Ah, did you want them to go to 27.5 cents so they'd hew to a strict 10% increase in fees across the board. That seems silly to me. (snipped away most of the ebay mail sent to all of us to leave just the listing fees) (...) ++Lar (23 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)
