Canadian Eaton's had a general 25% off sale of all store items, and some
stores carried the Mindstorms (most did not).
25% off of 300$CAD = 225$CAN = 146.484$US
I believe this is why you are seeing Canadians selling Mindstorms at
presumably cost... which is really 50$US = 76$CAN profit.

The only major retailer(1) carrying it in Canada is TRU, and it seems very unlikely that they had a 1/3 off sale on something that new, when they classify it as 'electronics' rather than 'toy' 1: and from the Sears (...) (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.market.auction)
