Rather than continually cut+paste parts of the ended@ebay.com automessage, I'll
include it here for any future reference.

I feel that this auction could be ended for reasons:  1, 8, (16|17) and/or 21
depending on what the information is. Oh, and 26 because it is pants, which is
possibly a UK only comment :)

We have several reasons for the ending of auctions, ALL OF WHICH ARE NOT
DISPUTABLE.  They are as follows:

1. ADVERTISEMENT: You item must be listed as an actual auction and not as
an advertisement for your item or service. We allow goods or services
being offered to advertise a business, however, eBay does not allow
auction listings to be used as advertisements for soliciting potential
customers for an item or service by offering it for direct purchase (that
is,  bypassing the auction format).
2. BESTIALITY: These items are illegal to sell.
3. BONUSES, GIVEAWAYS, PRIZES: eBay does not allow the listing of auctions
that contain bonus items, giveaways, or random drawings or prizes as an
enticement for bidders as such promotions are illegal lotteries in many
states.
4. BOOTLEGS, PIRATED MEDIA, ETC.: eBay does not allow the listing of
"pirated", "bootlegged", counterfeit or otherwise unauthorized uses of
copyright or trademarked audio, video, or other media. eBay works with
copyright and intellectual property owners to protect such rights.  For
more information on piracy, please go to the following page:
http://pages.ebay.com/aw/faq-piracy.html
5. BUDDY PROGRAM:  Item reported as infringing upon the
trademark/copyrights of a particular company/individual.  You will have to
contact the manufacturer in question as eBay does not make these
determinations.  For more information on the Buddy Program, please go to
the following page:
        http://pages.ebay.com/aw/buddy-program.html
6. BULK EMAIL: eBay does not allow the listing of auctions for lists of
bulk email addresses.
7. COUNTERFEIT/REPLICA ITEMS:  Per the terms of our New User Agreement,
"...6.2 Your Information and the sale of your item(s) on eBay: (a) shall
not infringe any third party's copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret
or other proprietary rights or rights of publicity or privacy;..."  You
should contact the manufacturer in question with questions.
8. CROSS POSTING SERVICE AND INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Items that offer a
service or information pertaining to a service, may only be listed in the
Miscellaneous : Services : Information Services category.
9. DO NOT BID - SINGLE ITEM: eBay does not allow "do not bid" notices to
be listed as auction listings.
10. DUTCH AUCTION CHOICE:  The offering of multiple items in a Dutch
Auction that are not identical is not permitted at this time.  ALL items
must be identical.
11. FEATURED AUCTIONS:  Please go to the following URL for a list of items
that are not acceptable for a Featured Auction Listing:
        http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?Featured
12. FIREWORKS, EXPLOSIVES: eBay does not allow the listing of fireworks,
explosives, or other incendiary devices because they are illegal to sell.
13. HIGH SHIPPING CHARGES: eBay does not allow the listing of Dutch
Auction items that start at less than $1 but state a shipping and handling
charge of more than $5 in an attempt to circumvent eBay auction fees. You
may relist the item but only with either a starting price of $1 or more,
or with total shipping and handling charges of not more than $5.
14. ILLEGAL ITEMS:  Self-explanatory.
15. ITEM EMAILED BEFORE AUCITON ENDS: eBay does not allow the listing of
items which invite the bidder to receive the product via email before the
auction is completed. You may relist the item if you choose but only minus
any such offer.
16. ITEM FOR DIRECT SALE: eBay does not allow the listing of items that
instruct bidders to not bid and/or offer the item for direct purchase from
the seller since this effectively circumvents eBay auction fees.
17. LINKS TO OTHER AUCTION SERVICES: eBay does not allow the listing of
auctions which include links (static or live) to other online auction
services.
18. LIVE ANIMALS: eBay does not allow the listing of live animals for bid.
19. MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING: eBay does not allow the listing of Multi-Level
Marketing (MLM) programs as auction items.
20. MULTI-LISTING: Multiple listings of similar items must use a Dutch
Action format and be listed in a single appropriate category.
21. PER BID ADDITIONAL PURCHASE: eBay does not allow the listing of items
which contain an offer to purchase additional items per the bid price,
since this effectively circumvents eBay auction fees.
22. RAFFLES, LOTTERIES: eBay does not allow the listing of raffles or
lotteries as auction items, since they are illegal in many states.
23. RISQUE TITLES FOR FEATURED AUCTIONS: eBay does not allow sellers of
Featured Auctions to list titles for their auctions that are risqué or
sexually provocative.
24. SELLER SETS RESERVE: Sellers are obliged to sell their non-Reserve
Price Auction item at the current high bid to the current high bidder
shown at the time of the auction's close regardless of any statement to
the contrary that a seller may include within the item's description.
25. SIGNPOST: Your auction must must be listed as an actual auction as
opposed to a "sign post" notice pointing to another auction item.
26. USED UNDERGARMENTS:  We do not allow used, unwashed undergarments for
bid at eBay.

(...) Ok, who is going to put up an auction for information on how to get all these "hard to find" sets. I don't see how this auction substantively differs from Larry's. If eBay is going to selectively enforce rules to support sleazy sellers, we (...) (25 years ago, 4-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.market.theory)
