  "Rare" sets

Where are all these 8880 sets coming from? Week after week I note at LEAST 5 sets being sold a week AND usually from the same person week after week. Some of these people must be sitting on a dozen :) So much for a "rare" set. David (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Here's a new one at ebay, selling information on where to buy the 8880 for under $125. Unforturately, DYA may be out of stock before the buyers can actually order them. (URL) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Re: Wow, check out the size of this ship! (Not my auction)

(...) Could it also explain why a) Sellers emphasis that a auction has "no reserve", but give it a high starting price? b) Sellers set a reserve which _is_ the starting price? Scott A (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.general)

Re: Wow, check out the size of this ship! (Not my auction)

It looks like the model they put in the LEGO Imagination Centers. BTW: If you have something that big and are expecting a lot of money, why would you start at $500 and still have a reserve? Why wouldn't you just start at your minimum required price? (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.auction, lugnet.general)

  Re: Another BIG E-bay ripoff

(...) While I'll admit that the auctions that we've all pointed out to each other here are upsetting on one level, I find it hard to have too much sympathy for the people who place such ridiculous bids. Why? Well, the buyers are obviously violating (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Another BIG E-bay ripoff

I know that we all know that there are quite a few ripoffs on e-bay, but last night I came across an incredibly BIG one.
