I grew up in Crocker Highlands, on Sunnyhills Rd. One of the last nice
neighborhoods in O-town. Were you live is just not safe. I have been jumped,
chased, beaten, and robbed while just traveling through that area to get to
school or summer jobs. As I look back at it I can't believe my parents didn't
do anything about it. They probably figured that since I had been a bit of a
bully as a youngster, that this kind of thing was good for me. aome areaes of
the Bay Aea such as west oakland, richmond, palo alto are brimming over with
racially motivated attacks. Not much you can do, and your report of the police
being completely inneffective shows me that things haven't changed. This is
the result of one of the most corrupt and screwed up public school systems in
the nation. My sugggestion is to move! It's a shame to leave those awesome
old Vics behind (I used to get summer work helping to restore them), but there
is not much you can do if you want to escape the violence.
