I seem to be having some problems sending out E-mail at the moment so I will
post this here.  I sent this E-mail out to all NELUG members so hopefully you
will get it soon but just in case you don't here you go.  If we decide on doing
this I think we should post something in lugnet.robotics soon.

I am not exactly sure but I don't think that this mail went out
yesterday because I never got a conformation sent to myself.

I want to let you all know about an extraordinary opportunity we have to
host a high profile event.  Please read this message and let me know
what you think.

We will be trying to set up a meeting to discuss this event soon.

I am personally very excited about this opportunity and I hope the rest
of you are as well.

Eric

Hello NELUG!

I'm glad to hear what a success your first meting was. I'm sorry I
missed it.

I'm writing to you today on behalf of the Media Lab. I just met with
the
MindFest planning committee. We would like to offer the NELUG MIT space
for an evening -- anything from a small meeting room up to a 200-seat
auditorium (Bartos) within the Lab.

Why? Because on October 22-24 we'd love for you to welcome other adult
enthusiasts who are in town for our MindFest event. You need not be
registered for MindFest to host this get-together (as long as it's an
after-dinner thing) and you may invite whomever you wish.

I'm sure you'll see familiar names from the online community showing up
on the MindFest website soon. Mike Gasperi just confirmed and Jonathan
Knudsen and Ben Erwin will be here for sure. I'm in the process of
inviting others.

Not all of these folks will be familiar with the Boston/Cambridge
landscape. Some will have families who will be interested in "seeing
the
sights" around town. They might love to hear advice straight from those
they already "know" from your postings, trades, etc. I really want them
to feel at home during their stay as well as propperly prepared
beforehand. But I can't take on more responsibilities myself.

You could help. Your input really counts.

Please send e-mail to me directly with suggestions regarding how to
make
the MindFest event more inviting, how you may like to be involved as a
group,  and what you think about an evening welcoming party.

This could present a special opportunity for you to make yourselves
known as an active positive force. Representatives from LEGO will be
here during the day, and the Media Lab supports and admires the efforts
of RCX "hackers."

I would love to tell you more about special things we have in the works
for that weekend, by attending your next meeting if possible.

hope to hear from you soon.
