The Cary TRU has three (as of 9:15 PM tonight) copies of the  UCS X-Wing
set.  I did not buy one and now that I think about, nor did I check the
price.  They also have the Millenium Falcon for $100.  Didn't buy that
either although I suspect I will end up getting one at some point.

GRRR, they must have waited until I left the store to put them out (either
that or they hid them pretty well). I had stopped by on Wednesday and they
had one of each X-Wing and Tie-Fighter, but the X-Wing box was torn and I
didn't want to risk it being missing a bag or two so I just got the Tie
Fighter. When I went back on Friday (about 8:30 PM or so - looks like we
just missed each other...), they had put out more Millenium Falcons but no
more X-Wings (that I found).

I saw both models at the Brickfest. The X-Wing has a bunch of good slopes,
and both have a ton of tiles (the label is applied to a base made of 12
black 1x8 tiles, plus there are plenty of other tiles used). There is also
an interesting new piece in the Tie Fighter, a blue 1x4 brick with studs on
the side (which aren't indented like the 1x1 brick with side stud). One
thing which is interesting is that the wing connectors are almost smaller
than the single piece doohicky from the regular Star Wars sets, certainly
smaller given the size of the models (these things are HUGE). I'm not sure
what their scale is, but if they aren't scaled for Technic or Belville, they
should have been, and included a pilot (if I leave examples built, I'll be
trying to add a pilot... hmm, which Belville figure would make the best Tie
Fighter pilot...)
