I havn't built the table, just part of a module. (Right before I had to
disasemble it due to storage space) I was trying to figure out something that
would be strong enough, but yet easily transportable. As far as building the
tables go, that is no problem. I've been building that sort of thing since I
was in middle school. I was thinking of a 2x4 frame with 1/2" plywood on
top. Then have standardized holes drilled on the corners so lag bolts can be
inserted to hold the legs (built out of 2x4's, like a "L" shape) in place.
Then, for storage, the modules could be (eventually) slid onto a rack type of
device inside of a trailer. Or something. I havn't quite worked that part
out yet.
However, we can build whatever type of tables that we really want for now,
as long as the modules are built to interface with the same standards. We can
always move them from one type of table to the other, once we figure out how
we want to build them.
I was thinking that we could build a couple of small 2x2 baseplate corners
(perhaps one per person) and then worry about the real modules. As long as
the ends of our modules line up to the 'standard', it won't matter if we make
multi-module scenes that don't interface standardly. (I was thinking of a two
module dam scene, with a concrete-style arch bridge at a angle, but it will
take up more than one module, and the track won't match) It will also allow
us some variety. What do you think?
Its looking like another 2 months or so until I close on the new house.
Once that is done, I'll have a decent sized basement (I'll still need to
finish it though) for use as well. So we should have plenty of room at either
place, regardless.
Let me know what you guys think. And we still need to get together
sometime. :) At the very least, we could meet for dinner or something
somewhere.

| I followed the design from the PNLTC web site and found that with 1 sheet of plywood, 4 2x2x8 and 8 1x2x8 I was able to make one 60 ½ x 30 ¼ table and one 30 ¼ x 30 ¼ table for $30, plus screws and bolts with not much leftover. This includes (...) (25 years ago, 20-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.us.mo)
