The Indianapolis area LEGO Club (IndyLUG) once again set up a train layout at the Great American Train Show. As you can see from the picture below, IndyLUG won second place.

Our layout wasn’t much different from the one we set up for the October GATS less than 3 months ago. The total size was the same (20’X30’). A few structures were taken down and a few new ones were added. The online pictures of the last layout can be seen here:

The new pictures from the more recent layout can be found here:

There are fewer pictures of the newer layout since we didn’t want repeat pictures of buildings &/or scenes that were in the October layout.

IndyLUG enjoyed some brief news footage on Indianapolis stations on Saturday morning. We also enjoyed seeing shoulder-to-shoulder crowds around our layout during the whole show. One of the crowd’s favorite new structures was the monorail track that we had squeezed between the 2 regular train tracks along the 80 inch truss bridge. This January’s layout actually supported more running monorail trains than regular track trains (4 and 3 respectively). Of course we had much more rolling stock that was stationary at the yard than we had monorail trains.

Participants who built MOC’s for the train layout were:
Tom Coleman
Steve McDonough
Chayme Higgins
Steve Martin
Brian Darrow
Jeramy Spurgeon
Mark Peterson
Brian Alano
A.K.A “Mr. DCC”
David Gregory
Leah Cardaci
Eric Smith
John Kyle
(new to IndyLUG)
Robert Miles

Special thanks also go out to Brian Alano’s son who was small enough to climb accross the layout and do things that we big people couldn’t reach after we got the tables in place.
