less than 3 months ago. The total size was the same (20’X30’). One of the
crowd’s favorite new structures was the monorail track that we had squeezed
between the 2 regular train tracks along the 80 inch truss bridge. This
January’s layout actually supported more running monorail trains than regular
track trains (4 and 3 respectively).

The layout was actually quite different in a number of ways. Additional
detailing was done by many of the club members including David, who is way too
modest. His Amish village is breathtaking! We reworked the entire Southwest
corner to accomidate a Haunted House from new member John Kyle. The old hotel
was turnrd into a Monorail station, Leah Cardaci expanded her beautiful Medevil
village, Chamye Higgins built a museum, and David added a prison with some fine
detailing including a break out.The mountain and tunnel were lengthened by about
two feet which allowed the trains to be outta sight longer. We ran 5 monorail
sections - one was a closed cirlcle and the other four were point to point,
roughly 130 track sections. We had 8 monorail units so we were able to
interchange them throughout the weekend to give those rare and weary monomotors
a lil’ rest. Mark Peterson and Eric Smith get kudos for their brilliant on-sight
monorail track inovations. I hope some of the other club members post their
pics soon (hint, hint) so you can see how cool this was. IndyLUG is very
fortunate to have some very talented and creative builders who labor in
anonymity. Plus Jeramy Spurgeon builds twice as fast as any three of us put
together and does a great job with those live TV interviews. This layout was
way, way more detailed than the October Gats and yet only 2nd place ... c’est la
