Hi folks in the SF area, I need a few volunteers!

There is a museum/workshop for kids/teens in S.F. called Zeum,
(http://www.zeum.org/home.html) near Yerba Buena Gardens. The theme
for the summer, hands-on exhibits is "Build It!", and BayLUG has been
asked to be the 'closing act' on this years season.

We've had a few problems getting the word about this out to the
group at large, but I think it would be a great chance to put on
a local display (using someone else's bricks and Mindstorms sets),
in their facilities. All we need are some able builders, and some
basic (and some more interesting) instructions to build from.

  I've accepted to put on a display on Sunday, 10/14, 12-5p. I'd
love to have 3-6 folks to help. the crowds can be 10-25 (or more)
at a time, but the crowds come and go (much like the visitors to
our club meetings during the public session). I will need folks
that can help explain some of the good ways to get bricks to stay
together, and a couple of folks who have played with Mindstorms
before would be really useful! Of course, I'll bet we get some
bright kids in there to help teach *us* a few things, too!

The museum is having an Oragami session this Saturday, starting
between 12-1p, and we've been invited to drop in, and ask for "Pia"
(coordinator for the artist sessions), if we'd like to get a look
at the space, and see how a session goes. I'm planning on taking
BART in...anyone want to join me? (PLEASE! :-)

I think this would be good exposure for the club. (I hope I can
get someone to take pictures and/or video, but we'll see how many
volunteers I can round up. ;-)

Please contact me directly if you think you can help, by email
to frenezulo@baylug.org. Thanks!

I'm fairly certain I can help on the 14th, but I can't make this Saturday's Origami session I don't have any Mindstorms stuff, but I do have a Droid Developer's kit somewhere.... Paul Sinasohn LUGNET #115 (23 years ago, 26-Sep-01, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)
