It's used as a generic term to describe an electronic 'box of tricks' in
this case. Mark works in the electronics field so he's ordered or made up a
special controller. This is actually a necessity due to the extreme bulk of
his models which use up to 4 drive motors. Obviously, the standard LEGO
controllers cannot supply enough current under these conditions.
It's just as bad the other way round - the standard LEGO motor in my SF
overheats pulling 5 SF coaches!
