Hi all,

This is just a post to make my presence known. I moved to the UK from
Australia about a month ago to start work at the University of St Andrews,
Scotland.

To let you all know a bit about myself ...

I've been reading Lugnet, in Australia and now here, for about a year now
as that is how long I have been out of my "dark ages". When I was a
youngster I was mainly into the town, train, and castle themes. My pride
and joy in those days was a 7710 Push Train which was quickly upgraded to a
12V train using sets 7864, 7865 and a whole stack of 7854, 7855's. The
train set-up surrounded my large (by kid standards!) town including a 7834
Level Crossing. In fact, you can see a old photo of the village at

Anyway, these days I'm more into the castle/pirate scene. I was actually
quite interested in the Pirate theme when it was released in the early 90's
(even during my dark ages I still paid attention to the latest LEGO
offerings) but never purchased any, a fact which is now tormenting me. I've
been buying the new KK sets but, like most people, have been disappointed
in them when comparing them to the older castle sets. Therefore it seems a
good time to re-enter the Castle theme with the introduction of the
so-called "Legends" series.

If you'd like to know anything more about me then just visit my web-site:

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows of any good LEGO happenings/dealers
in the Fife kind of area. Plus I still have my old 7777 Trains Ideas Book
which I'd be willing to trade for pirate/lego stuff in case anyone is
interested.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you all around.

Cheers,

Stephen Kane

Welcome to Scotland! St Andrews is one of the better places in Scotland to live, I am sure you will enjoy your time there. From time to time, you may find used Lego advertised in The Courier on a Saturday. Also, check the weekly "adtrader" for used (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Stephen, Welcome to Fife, it is the most remote part of the Lego world. Here is a clip from a recent posting. Come along next weekend - the only other Lego person I expect to be there is Ian Bishop on the Sunday. It is a model railway exhibition so (...) (23 years ago, 17-Jun-01, to lugnet.loc.uk)
