I am seeking views from more experienced train fans out there, in so much as
do you think a reasonably good condition and boxed 7745 with transformer is
worth £60? I looked at it last night, and although the seller is including
some other lego (small amount) I am in two minds as to whether its worth that
sort of money? I was thinking about splitting it for parts, but as its boxed
and complete this seems a shame.

Any comments appreciated?

The only guide I tend to use is ebay.
Search on completed auctions, and provided one has been sold in the last 30
days you can at least get an idea what it would realise if you put it up there.

A 7745 was sold recently by someone in Germany without a box for $202.
So, £60 seems reasonable, though not a FOTW bargain.

I would buy it for £60! You can sell it to me for £60 if you dont want it, but
clearly you could make a profit at auction!

I would think the separated parts would make no where near $202, unless you
offered all the parts, box, instructions, as separate lots at the same time as
Scott recently did with a 4558 if you remember. But I dont think the total
came out much different to if he had sold it as one piece.

PS I think this is a nice looking train. Though its not too hard to model
something similar if you have the windows and doors as it doesnt have a
special nose like the 4558, other special pieces.
The little bit of 12v and 4.5v I have, I converted to 9v motors which is
usually very easy and enables me to run them on same track and not have to
search out 12v track. Keeps the 12v motors in good order too!
