Dear All,

Just got back from the Southport Show and thought I'd put up a few lines.

Firstly thanks to Mike for organising the event.
Paul from Busy Bee was there and just three AFOLs displaying and trading but
the attendance from the local community was huge.
There had been two pieces about the show in the local papers and a childrens
LEGO building competition which attracted lots of entries.

The displays were a harbour scene and two train tracks (Mike) Boxed lego from
the 60's + 70's with some promotional stuff (add name later - memory
shortage), Castles (Me) and Paradisa (Joanna).
The Large Mr Toad model went down very well and is now the property of a proud
AFOL who will appreciate it.

The general public were very well behaved, and about a third of the adults
were incipient AFOLs - It would not surprise me if the LUGNET traffic
increased over the next couple of weeks - we gave out the address to lots of
people.
It was really nice to see the children, when they realised that adults were
really 'into' their toy. None of the exhibits were damaged at all.

I think it's fair to say that sales were brisk from opening time, a lull over
lunch and then pretty steady until about 15.30. I brought home 2 sets unsold
having cleared a table full and Mike was mobbed for a lot of the time. I
talked to Paul afterwards and he seemed pretty happy with how it had gone.

If any of the photos come out well I will send them to someone clever who can
upload them.

Cheers

Alan Kershaw
