Has anyone else got theirs yet? Maybe it's all to do with the hurry to put out
a new magazine in new offices and stuff, but I can't help feeling a little
underwhelmed - it just feels so rushed with lower-than-usual quality (apart
from the "LEGO Maniac cartoon" which I think they use world-wide).
The colours seem off, and the competitions seem kinda vague and not
kid-friendly - "The team wants a new letterhead design and is running a
competition to find the best one", and "[The BIG Star War Challenge]All you
have to do is design your own LEGO Building Plan using LEGO bricks and elements
from your collection at home... Then give your model a 'space' name and send a
photograph of it to..". So is that a Building Plan, or a model? Maybe it's a
set of competitions subtley aimed at AFOLs? Although the "Count Robbie Rabbit"
competition I can understand, as they seem to do a variation of that in EVERY
issue :)
I'm prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt (I'm ignoring the curious
Football (not called FUTBOL) segment, although the 3-way matches look fun!),
hopefully the next issue will have improved! I don't know whether it's
indicitive or significant, but they have "©2000 The LEGO Group" bits in it,
but I'm guessing the former!
