Never say "yes". Say "Hmm. Ah. Not really. I think my kids have that one. • I'll
come around and have a look at it as I'll be passing your remote & • isolated
hilltop croft soon anyway." Then drop everything, and burn rubber to get • to
the seller's house.

Absolutely, I always try to hide my enthusiasm. I always try to take my 12
year old son and have him play a role, "well? do you want it?", "dont • know" he
replies,....

Bringing my kids only confirms their suspisions that I'm mad.

£4 is good. The only carboot sale pluder I have _this year_ is ice • slizer -
which I detest. But I did get a RIS and DDK, which was a unwanted gift • for a 2
year old, a couple of weeks ago via my local paper. All the bags were
sealed. :-)

Car boots have only just started again round here (they shut for the • Winter)
There was a guy with a whole pasting table of lego this week who I bought • the
castle off. He claimed he was selling it to fund his sons new computer.

Common selling reason around here. By "computer" it normally means a
Playstation.

He may
have been a trader though as he made references to goig to other car boot
sales. And his prices were a little higher, though no where near as high • as he
could get, than the usual housewife clearing out the toy cupboard.

I still do no understand this chain of events:
1. Parent buys a set for say £30 - £40 tens years ago for little
Johnny/Jilly .
2. Parent encourages little Johnny/Jilly to look after the parts,
instructions & box.
3. Parent sticks it a cupboard for a couple of years when Johnny/Jilly out
grows it.
4. Parent goes down the car boot sale one Sunday, claims it is a collectors
item and sells it for a fiver.

(...) Good lego sets, especially boxed, are still rare at car boots though. Whilst there's always lots of toys on offer - and collectable ones like beanie babies, corgi, etc - there is typically not much lego (down here anyway) - Certainly never as (...)
