Dont know if its been suggested before, but had idea for a collaborative
building theme

modular space base.
Everyone uses standard 32x32 plates
Agree where the connections points are (obvious point is midway along each
side) and the size, shape of the connection.

There could be an agreement for connections in the vertical plane too, so the
base could stack in that dimension, not just horizontal.

then everyone turns up with a variety of modular buildings on plates that can
be connected together as a giant space base.
Not necessarily using space pieces, but they are obvious adornments to the
buildings

It could be a surface based space base, or a modular orbiting space station.

just like some would envisage a real space station (at least in sci-fi movies
anyway)

regards
lawrence
