Dear LEGO fans,
From October 19 to 24, LEGO®WORLD will be held in Zwolle, The Netherlands.
During the past years it has become on of the largest LEGO events around the
world, with in 2005 over 48,000 visitors. It has become such an success as a
result of the large efforts by De Bouwsteen, the Dutch LEGO Users Group, its
members and last but not least many LEGO fans from abroad. These participants
show the possibilities of LEGO and are as such an inspiration for the visitors
of this event. The success has been created by you.
The event, with a floor area over 20,000 square meters, shows a large range of
LEGO products, from Duplo to Mindstorms. Not only current product line is shown
and demonstrated, but also many AFOLs show their collections of older LEGO
and/or their MOCs. In addition there are LEGO building contests, LEGO movies are
shown and much other entertainment for the whole family.
You can find impressions of LEGO®WORLD 2005 in Brickjournal Issues 3 and 4. If

Summer is now on and if you are on holidays around the 14th/16th of
July, FreeLUG is organising its 4th Summer AFOLs Days close to
Toulouse at Ayguesvives, south of France.

Hello,
FreeLUG (with the agreement of organizators) would like to organize a building
contest : build the strongest bridge with LEGO Parts.
If you like building bridge with LEGO parts, and want to test the resistance of
it, this challenge is for you :-). You will see that LEGO bricks can support
heavy charge.
The goal is to build the most resistant 100 studs long bridge.
Every LEGOWorld’s exhibitors and volunteers are welcome for this challenge.
the contest will take place on saturday, 22th October.

Hello European AFOL :-)
FreeLUG (French LUG) would like to do a big Great Ball Contraption at LEGOworld this year. we have about ten modules at
this time.
To increase the size of this GBC, we would
like to invite all AFOL, who planned to bring one or more module, to join us. We
will make a good place for your modules :-)
If you don’t know what is a GBC module, read this
http://www.teamhassenplug.org/GBC/. It is very easy to make one simple module
( and one module don’t take a lot of place :-) ).
So if you want to join us into a big GBC, please tell us (here or at my personal
email : jlb@freelug.org ), so we can provide a place for your modules.
I hope to see a lot of GBC modules at LEGOWorld :-)

At the moment we have mainly French people from Freelug at the event.
But some people from De Bowsteen are also talking of coming.

Ciao a tutti!
Ne è passata di acqua sotto i ponti e di ABS nelle macchine di stampaggio ma
alla fine sono di nuovo qua.
Ci siamo lasciati dopo un acceso dibattito e spero che questo mio intervento
possa, come alcuni mesi fa, ravvivare di nuovo questo forum :-)
Veniamo al dunque: dalle sterili parole sono passato ai fatti concreti.
Ho organizzato a Torino per il 3 e 4 settembre 2005 il XIX (se non ne fate altri
nel frattempo) Legofest - 1ere Legofête Piemontèis. Si, per la prima volta
saranno due giorni, ma non basta, perché alla manifestazione parteciperanno
anche diversi esponenti di FreeLug che porteranno in mostra alcune loro
creazioni.
Tutte le informazioni in merito alla manifestazione (date, orari, percorsi,
programmi...), possono essere trovate a questa pagina internet:

Il luogo è una sala del comune di Torino appositamente affittata per
l’occasione, facilmente e rapidamente raggiungibile sia coi mezzi pubblici sia
con i mezzi privati. Lo spazio non è grandissimo, ma è adeguata ad almeno 50/60
persone, è dotata di uscite di sicurezza, bagni e accessi per portatori di
handicap. Ovviamente sarà vietato fumare e l’accesso ai bambini sarà
interdetto... ;-) No, scherzo, anche loro sono ben accetti, purché non tocchino
tutto: se non li bloccherà mio fratello, ci penseranno le barriere elettrificate
a 380V a fare il loro dovere... ;-)
I partecipanti sono pregati di compilare il modulo d’iscrizione.
La partecipazione è gratuita e tutti possono fare richiesta per l’esposizione
delle proprie creazioni (le richieste vengono esaminate fino ad esaurimento
degli spazi): chi intende portare qualcosa, deve sfruttare il modulo online per
indicare che cosa ha, a che tema si ispira e quanto spazio necessita.
In breve, cosa ci sarà?
1) piccoli plastici “storici”, che riprendono gli anni 70, 80 e forse anche 90.
2) una parte della mia Legoland (quella visibile su BrickShelf)
3) una lunga pista per i treni 9V (e se abbiamo binari sufficienti, anche 12V)
4) altri due miei plastici per il momento ancora top secret
5) un ampio spazio dato ai nostri vicini francesi di FreeLug, ospiti della
manifestazione
6) una piccola esposizione di rarità e pezzi unici (come il binario rosso)(1)
7) ...
eventualmente possono essere organizzati anche dei tornei robotici, ma gli
interessati devono occuparsi di tutto, perché, malgrado sia un informatico, non
è il mio campo...
Il programma definitivo dei due giorni sarà redatto in base alle partecipazioni
previste, agli interessi dei visitatori ed al loro numero. Dato che Jake era
interessato ad incontrare noi italiani, l’occasione potrebbe essere ancora più
ghiotta per lui, dato che in un colpo solo troverebbe italiani e francesi
insieme! Ho già preso contatto ed aspetto sue notizie a riguardo.
Tengo a precisare che il Legofest torinese non prevede alcuna attività
commerciale al suo interno (per tale motivo la Lego non è stata contattata).
Dunque, consiglio a chiunque voglia partecipare, di ripassare con cura il
francese (magari anche l’inglese) e di iniziare a farsi un programmino per
settembre!
