I also fell off my chair when I opened up my Visa bill. I know TLG isn't to
blame for the exchange rate and thankfully my last order was the one with
free shipping, but ordering from S@H is getting too exhorbitant for me.
I crunched some numbers. My last order was for 650.64US$. With the "regular"
exchange rate of 1.48 to 1.50 range that comes to 975.96 Loonies. With the
crazy 1.5898 rate it comes to 1034.30Can Loonies. A 58.34$ difference!!!
Imagine all the sets I could have gotten for that amount! And imagine the
savings if Lego Canada were still open (to ship sets).
Here is a suggestion, how about all the AFOLs from one area order all at
once one order form from the catalog. That way, there is a decent exchange
rate and one shipping fee.
I think I will save a lot of money in 2001. Between ho-hum initial offerings
(except the Imperial Shuttle), no Town and the crappy bird we call money
:-), I would rather fall back on the parts and sets that I already have.
Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

| My VISA bill arrived today. My Lego order was quite respectable in terms of total dollar amount. I was charged 1.5897% in exchange... I think I can safely say that was my LAST order that I will be using a Credit Card on. Lego's Exchange rate is 1.43 (...) (24 years ago, 27-Nov-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)
