G'day, the Bugs have got together and we have had a little chat with a few
of the members.  I have the details below for a few things such as what we
can do and days that people can turn up or would like to turn up.  If your
name is not on the list and you would like to be there on these days, then
email me! :)
Mel - brickzone@brickzine.com

Things to do: (these will be set out better when we have a better idea of
who can make it and when...
______________________
Shopping-
Sat/Sun... shopping would be best for these days. (Only the City is open on
Sunday)
______________________
Lunch or Dinner or both-
Dinner probably Black Jacks at the Treasury Casino which is in the City.
They hold a nice buffet there will loads of desserts (yummy) and lots of
other yummy food, salad bar etc.  It's not very expensive either, $10 if
travelling by public transport, $14-$16? if a non P.T. user.
Lunch, where ever :)  The Casino also has Pastano, which isn't too bad and
the meal sizes are fairly decent, for $5 (using P.T.) you can get a meal and
a piece of cake (which is usually $4-5 type in most places, alone).  So it's
a great deal.

The Meeting-
This could be held over all three days if needed and possible.  BrickWars,
doesn't seem to gather tooo much attention between most of us, so you are
welcome to organise that part between those who are interested, but try not
to throw that into any of the main meet days (I have heard these things go
for hours).
______________________
There will be no theme, us Bugs usually have a theme, but from what we can
gather, this won't be the go this time, so bring anything you can carry/fit
with you.  We don't just bring Lego things we have built, but also misc
stuff too!  We trade and sell, swap etc, you name it, so bring anything
along those lines too.
______________________
Don't forget your camera's and warm clothes, it can get cold up here too ya
know ;) If anyone needs accomodation, email us and we'll see what we can do.
If you want us to book and find you somewhere, let us know, I'm sure we can
also help you with that too.
______________________
I heard some mention about some people maybe possibly staying down the Gold
Coast?  Unless driving, there is the train and that can take awhile, either
way.  So I guess it all depends on what sort of accommodation you
need/want/cost and far you wish to travel.  %95 of us live in the Brisbane Area.

Days people would like or can make it:
Brisbane Bugs:
Kerry - Sat/Sun/Mon
Ken - Sat?/Sun/Mon
Tara - Sat/?/?
Mel - Sat?/Sun/Mon
Gary - Sat/Sun/Mon
Mark - Sat/Sun/Mon
Aaron - ?/?/?
Michael - ?/?/?
Peter.P. Sat/Sun/Mon (these could change)
Any more????

Interstate Bug Visitors:
Ross Crawford - Sat/Sun/Mon
Richie Dulin - Sat/Mon/Sun (?)
Peter C - Mon (anything else?)

Anyone from the International Scene who might be over in this area at these
times, are also very welcome!... Hey! ya never know ;)

I think it is safe to say that something can be done for each day, Sat/Sun
and Monday.  So far: Sat = 9 with 2x?, Sun = 8, Mon = 9... so they are all
fairly even at this point.  So maybe Saturday to meet and greet, maybe shop
and lunch or dinner, let everyone settle down and what not, and have the
meetings over Sunday and carry it over to Monday letting those go home as
they wish.

how does that sound?  I need answers to figure out what sort of area and
place I should find or book a venue for...

Thanks... Mel Brown

Taken from a previous post a few weeks back... (plus a few now added)

Okies so here's the list so far:

Well this is all I could find so far that showed interest via Lugnet.
Anyone else interested should show their hands so we can figure out some
stuff here.  For example, we need to get some sort of idea of how many are
coming, if there's going to be a lot then we'd probably have no choice but
to hire somewhere, which I doubt would be a problem, just need to know so
this can be organised properly and a booking can be made.

Me... +0
Richard Parsons +?
Kevin Hall +Andrea?
Ross Crawford +?
James Howse +?
Peter Curby +?
Michael Dallaston +?
Kerry Raymond +?
Paul Baulch +?
Tara Anderson +?
Zac Soden +?
Richie Dulin +?
Ken Wilson +?
Gary Quinlin +1?
Peter Parsons +?
Mark Harrison +?
Aaron Coghill +?

Total so far: 19?  -  +? = bring a friend or partner (etc)

I hate leaving too many things to the last minute, so just thought I'd kick
this along a little! :)

Mel

P.S sorry if I have left anyone out!!!

(...) Thanks for the update, Mel (...) Public Transport seems to have benefits in Brisbane not found in other cities... (...) Excellent. (...) If there's interest, I'd be happy to set up a LUGNET page with everyone's trade, sell & swap requirements, (...) (22 years ago, 6-May-02, to lugnet.loc.au)
