6291 Armada Flagship - waddya reckon? —Kerry Raymond
Well, I assume lots of us are sitting at home admiring our new half-price 6291 Armada Flagship. Waddya reckon? My initial reaction is that it is too small. I like the bigger 16-wide hull, whereas the Armada Flagship has only a 12-wide hull. Even (...) (23 years ago, 13-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Oh yes....spanish is definitely a theme on the Armada line... well, Armada Flagship, and Armada Sentry. Spanish guys (2 of them) are also in a couple of "pirate" sets, Perilous Pitfall set for example. What irritates me about the Pirate Theme (...) (23 years ago, 13-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Spanish preserves the second word of the Latin phrase "classis armata" for armed fleet. Armata is past participle of the verb armare, to arm. It follows the pattern where a name for a body part (here, the human upper extremity, arma) grows (...) (23 years ago, 13-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates)

Hello, (...) "Armata" in Midage Latin means exactly: "army", "fleet". BTW: "armata" in East Europe languages (Polish, Czech, Russian) means cannon. (...) French "equipage" means ship's crew. (...) W. Kopalinski "Slownik wyrazow obcych i zwrotow (...) (23 years ago, 13-Oct-01, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) I reckon, at $50, it's pretty good indeed. (...) Beware building a canoe! (...) Yes! (...) True. I've removed all the red and yellow (except for the figure head) and replaced them with white... I think it looks a lot nicer now. And I agree on (...)      (...) At AU$50, I'd buy some more, yes! But alas, here they're all still *US*$50. :( I did get the original batch of 6280s for US$20 apiece, though. :D (...) I've built these ships with as many as 4 center sections, and they still look passable--4 (...) (23 years ago, 15-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

Insignia della Infanta (was Re: 6291 Armada Flagship) —Kerry Raymond
(...) I am about half-way through my rebuild (damn tendonitis!) to be christened "Insigna della Infanta". I have 2 centre sections and it isn't looking like a canoe. But still, I felt more height would help balance the greater length. So I've built (...) (23 years ago, 15-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Well, I did get mine for $25 U.S., but that was quite some time ago. Having several already and looking at $50 U.S. price tag hasn't motivated me to buy anymore. (...) The standard complaint is that the pirates should have the smaller, more (...) (23 years ago, 15-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates)
