The low down on the latest STUDs (SLUGs for the unstudly)meeting

Who: If you're interested in LEGO, and in Sydney that weekend, then you're
welcome.

In order of arrival Richard, Richie, James, Pete, Anthony, Andrea, Kevin and
Grahame.

Where: Hornsby Heights Community Hall, 104A Galston Road, Hornsby Heights

An entirely spiffy venue with tables aplenty, convenient facilities and
ample room. Lacking only a door that doesn't blow shut so often.

When: Sunday 7th October Noon(ish) - (as late as) 6pm

Quite a nice day really, except for the wind.

Why: The celebration of the introduction of S@H Australia! MOCs! Town >Brickwars (I've got some nice big scenery for brickwars... )! Trains!

Richie was excited at having a 4.5v train running. Although it was outpaced
by the mindstorms crawlerbot James brought. To continue the train theme we
discussed the possibility of a train show, approaching both Lego Australia
and interstate train people and forms of advertising.

We didn't get to play brickwars, preferring instead to chinwag about S@H,
terrorism and whether Kevin should be allowed to play catch or not.

There was some very nice scenery for brickwars and forces too. Richie had a
snot-sided river boat that put James' lego modified coast guard cutter to
shame. An extended 'Olbrook was there sporting increased length and width
(but still not enough room inside say the crew). Finally dwarfing all
comers, Richard's draft of the Australia sat on a table at the end, although
if Richard found any megablocks fighter jets on the way home, it may end up
an Invincible class carrier instead.

James and Pete did some trading of Bionicle masks, James getting a
Trans-antifreeze mask of levitation and showing off some painted masks in
gold, silver and bronze. All agreed they were much better than the ones Pete
got from K-Mart.

From Pete and K-mart again came a flotilla of Amanda Flagships, finding
their way to various people. One was built and stuck to the top of the
crawlerbot, which happily (although blindly) trundled around, causing some
to speculate on a new method of Pirate Wars.

Finally the beasts were rounded out by Richard's Port block dinoriders and
James showing off the new Bionicle Rahi, who despite having a fearsome
biting attack, couldn't stomach the Jack Stone Creatorfigs. (Shame on the
person that brought these!)  Kevin pondered the use of the dino horns on his
(baby!) dragon, a wonderful sculpture the size of a small dog. Able to eat
minifigs in a single swallow. Although not a beast, Grahame handed out some
stickers which promoted discussion of disguising ourselves as Lego workers
and 'liberating' some Lego from the Lane Cove office, but we decided that
would be a beastly thing to do indeed.

Cost: Not very much. (The hall costs $17.50 for the six hours)

Here's the bit where we say thanks to Richie for organising such a great
location. Thanks! Pity we couldn't get the noise meter to work!

Catering: Grab some lunch on the way through Hornsby, Asquith, or Dural
depending on your approach direction.

As always, someone forgets something. (Memo to self: never get between
Andrea and food).

In the end, a fun and productive time! Good to see everyone again and the
next will be sometime early Dec/late Nov. Plenty of time to organise a group
S@H order.

James (who's off to watch an E-bay auction or two)
