Do you mean with broken, mangled, missing pieces? I've never had to write
to sort these out, always over the phone, and while we usually offer to send
back the offending broken piece (not missing ones, obviously!) they've never
wanted us to*. It would, however, be much easier to write in the first
place rather than spend days on end listening to their answering machine :)
*The only thing LA ever wanted us to post to them was our original MyBot,
and this was because they didn't know how the light sensor was supposed to
work, so we couldn't determine whether ours was working correctly or not.
LA asked us to post it (at our risk and expense) so they could figure out
whether or not it was ok. We declined, I found out via lugnet how it was
supposed to work, ascertained from this that ours was broken, and returned
it to the store which swapped it for a new one. We had to write a detailed
fault report for the store so that they could get LA to take it back.

| (...) Hi Jonathon, I take it you are after their Phone Number? It's 1800 683 100 Sometimes it can be hard to get through. But they don't like to deal over the phone regarding a piece of Lego, they will ask that you write to them and the address is: (...) (24 years ago, 24-Mar-01, to lugnet.loc.au)
