I'm not too sure about that being the last of the sales till the end of the
financial year, as we know LEGO will decrease in price with GST, I think
most of the larger stores will try and clear their stocks before the price
drops[1]. This means that we may [wishful thinking, I know] see even better
sales in the next month or 2.

[1] From what I've been led to believe, the stores have to take off the
current sales tax[22%] from the cost of the set to them/what they sell the
set for, and then add the GST. This means that they have overpaid $X in
sales tax, which will be refunded by the government at some stage. However,
until that time, anything bought pre GST, and sold post GST will be losing
them money on their cost price. Therefore, it makes sense for the stores to
clear their sleves before this happens.

Just remember IANAL/accountant, so I could be wrong [and it wouldn't be the
first time :) ]

In lugnet.loc.au, Peter White writes:
Here's todays rundown,

TARGET over and out as of last Saturday, shelves ravaged.
Big W no sales, stock stagnant.
TRU sale must have finished, more Ritvik battleships though, • must check out
the Le Snak offer.
Grace Bros, 20% off sale continues, some stock gone, not ravaged.
K-mart no 15% off, can someone check Parra or Chatswood.
World4Kids, 15% off only today and tomorrow. (typical hit • and run sale).

GPSP(7151) comparison GB's - $87.XX - 20% = $70 (approx)
                     W4K  - $76.85 - 15% = $65.33

Nup, not attractive enough. 7151 is not a $87.95 set, it's
not even a $65.33
set. It's a $50 set at RRP, *then* let's start talking sales!

Eyes peeled everyone, that's probably it until end of financial year.

That's me out of the running then. Could use a few more large
grey base plates
if anyone has spied them extra cheap. I missed out at the
Target sales,
although I don't remember any of the Targets I went to
stocking plates.
Options, anyone? I'm after.... four. That'll do for starters.

(...) I think so too,I meant leading up to the GST intro rather than post EOFY. (...) Yep, I was thinking along the same lines, we can only hope they do. Especially with new Adventurers/Town kits coming out, the stores will need some shelf space. (...) (25 years ago, 26-Apr-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
