While talking to a manager (?) at a toyworld near work at lunch today I
found out a little bit of info about the soccer sets.

It seems that these sets are popular, as the local store has sold out, and
they were told by LA that they are on back-order, and aren't expected in
till late Oct/Early November. Considering that this store hasn't received
any new soccer sets since the middle of the year, and that other stores also
seem to be running low, it would appear that LA was right in bringing this
range into the country. Add to this the fact that LA DROPPED the RRP of
these sets before they even were released, and it shows that if LA were to
reduce the prices initially, then the sales [30%+ off discontinued sets]
would no longer be required, as the sets would actually sell on their own
merits, and not on the %off tag.

If LA can learn from this [and they seem to be...the new (post GST) releases
have had reasonable prices compared to the pre GST equivalent sets.] then
they will certainly be able to increase the opinion of family's about
LEGO...No longer should we hear: "Lego is good, but it costs too much".
After all, this theme [and LA's handling of it, ignoring the way they
weren't even going to release it.] shows that if LA drop their prices a
little, then good sales will follow. [as opposed to the way it looks now,
where they work on the theory of "It doesn't sell, so why not increase
prices to make a profit".]

If any of this doesn't make sense, or it seems like I'm rambling...Fair
enough. It's been a loooong day and I'm tired. :( [and it's an hour or so
till I get home, too.]

The funny thing I find about your post is that everything except this last paragraph of yours made perfect sense. :-) <gdr> Cheers ... Geoffrey Hyde Whytcross, Benjamin <BWhytcro@pacificaccess.com.au> wrote in message (...) (24 years ago, 4-Oct-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)
