It's a real Black plate service pack, too, with all four wings being a
double-thickness of black plates.

Am I the only one that has an over-abundance of black plates? It seems to be
the most common plate colour after light grey (and they're mostly from SW
sets).

It's also got a half-page on the lego 5600 radio control set. Does anyone
know anything about this set? if the steering and drive mechanisms can be
separated out, so they can be put in MOC's, I'll be happier than a barrel
full of happy monkeys put inside a happy house!

5600 is an extremely difficult set to find. In the whole of Victoria I've
only ever found one of them. It cost $170, a bit pricey but I don't complain
about the prices of collector's items because it's almost always better than
eBay.
Sadly, the radio controlled car is a single huge SPUD, as far as
single-purpose goes it's the mother of all SPUDs if you ask me! What makes
it really suck is that there isn't a way to change the operating frequency,
which means that you can't use more than one in the same area, they conflict
with each other so you can't have races and stuff! D'ohhh!
One the upside, it has a nice selection of bricks, including 2x3 "side
wedges" in red, yellow and green, a strange 6x16 plate with a smooth section
(not found anywhere else?) and a pair of green large space/aircraft wings
(oooh!). I'm sure my future kids will make some cool-looking R/C cars with
it and drive the SPUD car element into the ground as well. Which means
you've got your money's worth... ;-)

Cheers,
Paul

Hi, I had my UCS tie-fighter delivered yesterday. (Special thanks goes to customs for ripping the box and losing a piece (Thank god I've got an 8462 which had an almost-perfect match)). Spent all afternoon putting the set together, and is now (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
