Can we limit auction posting only to members of .org.au?
Given that countries like New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji
etc, probably
wont have their own organisations forming, we may have to
admit them as
members into .org.au.

In which case, maybe .org.ANZA [Australia and New-Zealand • Area] or similar?

Or does this then defeat the whole purpose of creating
organisations by
country?

See above suggestions

Either way, what i see as happening is, that the organisation
will have a list
of members, only those members can post to .org.* and it will
be upto the
organisations to maintain that list.

Agreed

If Grahame and Sanjay from NZ get want to join in, as an
organisation we'll
have to decide if we can accept them (and that we don't break
any of lugnets
T&C's)

I'd say they should be allowed to join...but who listens to me.

I hear you Ben, it's just that your reply-posting problem
makes it kind of
like waiting for an echo to finish before replying. By which
time something
else may also have been said.

Well, unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it :( [ at least not
between 6:30am and 7pm...work and travel to-from ] which is when the best
time to post is to catch these discussions. However, If Todd could find a
way of checking from the header info of e-mail postings where the message
belongs in a thread, part of the problem would go...

the logic i'm  using is as follows

*In org.au only members can post auction stuff

Agreed

*Members of org.au have to be from Australia

Maybe Australian region [or by request of a certain number • of members [say
5] so we can also have 'honory Australians' - eg those who • are wiling to
purchase items in the US/Europe and ship to us]

This idea i like. Perhaps its something we can adopt for
entry of all members
in the future. Though then we're heading down that path of
are Lego groups for
everyone or for a select few. In which case I'd say : to be a
member you'd
need to meet certain number of guidelines unless that
condition is veto-ed by
a certain number of other members.

for eg.
One condition being: to be a member of .org.au you must live
in Australia.

But this condition can be overruled if enough people say
"though they don't
live in Australia they would DIRECTLY contribute to the organisation.

and if somone seems to be abusing the group [ eg posting every day asking
for sets that they asked for the day before, and the day before, etc. or
posting sale/auction information which doesn't have a primarily/solely
Australian/regional emphasis.] then the same requirements would be
used...say x people request this persons privileges be revoked

*But given the size/number of people we may allow neighbours
who also have the
same size/number problems?

Agreed

Santosh
(RIGHT! this calls for immmmmmmmediate discussion!)

So everyone else needs to add their 2 cents [which could be • considered as a
down-payment on membership ? :) ]

I see your agreements and raise you two more agreements
*poker face*
Santosh

I'll meet your two and raise another two.
[this is starting to get serious...]
