This morning's Courier-Mail had an advert that said "Huge $5 million
clearance sale now on at Toys R Us". No other details were given about Lego
or otherwise.

Being cynical, I presume $5 million is what TRU hopes to make in huge
profits from the sale!

Disclosures: none.

A TRU ad in today's Telegraph had 'Selected LEGO 40% off' (or maybe it was
'Selected LEGO up to 40% off').

While I think TRU would probably 'select' different LEGO to me for a 40% off
sale, it sounds promising.

Or it would, if I hadn't exceeded my LEGO budget and the available storage
space in our house.

Disclosures: None. But I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that I'm
not a Telegraph reader. Well, I was on this occasion, but that was only
because it was the only paper available at my lunch venue (which had switched
from Coke to Pepsi in the last few days - making me not very happy). I read
and recommended the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mmmmm.  The fancy pants $5m sale involves a dozen or so sets, including the Red
Baron and Pirate ship pricing previously discussed hereabouts.  The only other
mildly interesting elements were Tie Fighters for $18 and some of the small
three fig star wars sets for $6 (instead of $12 or $13).  Mainly ho-hum stuff
I'm afraid.

Disclosures:  I am not a great friend of TRU since they increased the prices of
MB across the board, including charging $13+ for the Dragons impulse tins which
are $10 everywhere else MB is sold.

Oh, and I occasionally double dunk.

Actually, I do that a lot.

Richard
Still baldly going...

(...) Evil MB! Not like LEGO where the prices tend to get lower over time... Sounds like an excuse to provide some statistics! yay! For the new sets I purchased: Year cpp (total) cpp (sets) 1997 22.0 23.1 1998 16.9 21.7 1999 20.3 70.45 (hopelessly (...) (21 years ago, 11-Sep-03, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)
