These sets seem distinctly more expensive than (already expensive) normal sets.

The cents per piece price doesn’t seem too bad, although 7468 seems to be pushing it a bit. But of course it does depend on what those pieces are.

Perhaps this is due to licensing fees to Discovery Channel (whose logo features prominently on the box) - is this something to do with NASA imagery or models of NASA things? I mean, heaven knows why you’d bother putting the Discovery Channel logo on otherwise. Does that really improve recognition of the product? I’m baffled.

Indeed.

Beware: what follows could be described as a rant.

Does the Discovery Channel logo on the LEGO box promote the LEGO, or does it promote the Discovery Channel? (And who is paying whom?)

Does Bert Newton fronting Telstra ads promote Telstra, or Bert Newton?

Does the real estate agent’s ad in the paper promote your property for sale, or the real estate agent who is selling it?

Marketing. I’ll never understand it.
