Wash your LEGO® Geoffrey... with the SOLVOL® Geoffrey... —Richie Dulin
... but only if you want to take the printing off. I have found that Solvol (with water) removes skull-n-crossbones printing from pirate bicorns more quickly than a craft knife, with less damage than wet-n-dry sandpaper and preserves the underlying (...)      (...) Wouldn't Solvol still be a bit abrasive? I use Brasso. This seems to be the generally accepted method of lego printing removal, and works a treat. It also leaves a nice shiny finish, but make sure you give it a good rinse afterwards. Allister (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Yes, but that's the point! (...) But it smells! And it is abrasive, too. I've used Brasso® to remove the printing from slopes (among other things)... it happily takes the texture off too. Cheers Richie (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Isn't Brasso supposed to do the same thing? (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Wash your LEGO® Geoffrey... with the SOLVOL® Geoffrey... —Richie Dulin
(...) It does. But Solvol doesn't smell nearly as bad :-) Cheers Richie (21 years ago, 29-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

Now I remember back in the heady days of 70s feminism ... women lounging around in bean bags asking why advertisers insulted our intelligence with advertisements in which women sat around discussing whether their washing powder really got (...)         Cleaning Lego (wa Re: Wash your LEGO® Geoffrey... with the SOLVOL® Geoffrey...) —Richie Dulin
(...) So, how do you get the white bricks whiter than white? And, even more importantly, are there any thoughts on removing the yellowish tinge that you get on (some) older grey bricks? I don't mind the white - tan range for buildings, but the (...) (21 years ago, 30-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au, FTX)

(...) A bleach/water mixture. Let it soak for a few days. Repeat as necessary, or just let it soak for longer. You bricks will then be sqeaky clean, literally! (...) Same deal, but you may end up with some grey bricks that are just a teeny bit (...) (21 years ago, 30-May-03, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Cleaning Lego (wa Re: Wash your LEGO® Geoffrey... with the SOLVOL® Geoffrey...) —Richie Dulin
(...) Thanks. I know what you mean about squeaky - I recently bought an older set on eBay, and the bricks felt odd - they gripped a bit more tightly than most, and seemed almost too clean - and sure enough they squeaked as they went together and (...)
