  Re: LegOz 2001.VIC.1 / Studs 2001.1

(...) And if we can con^H^H^H persuade someone else to take a second car, I might even make a concerted effort to finish my crane (even though I fear technic-heads will be in the minority...) www.lugnet.com/~469/...towercrane Regards, ROSCO (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.org.au, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: 8880 Pleasure.....

Yep. The 8880 is a truly awesome set. I just wish I could find some replacement parts to fix mine : ( Whatever you do, don't let those ultra-rare suspension parts out of your sight ! The only way to get more is to buy another supercar, since parting (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

(...) lock (...) Well just about. Technically both the "sleeve" and the "ball" make up a CV joint. The CV's on a car are a little more complicated but work pretty much the same way as the LEGO(R) ones. BTW, CV stands for constant velocity. (...)   Re: 8880 Pleasure.....

(...) The 8880 is definitely one of the great sets, apart from the chain. I agree that the chain slips (quite often I find) but my main objection to the chain is simply my feeling that it should not be there at all. How many cars really have a chain (...)   Re: 8880 Pleasure...

(...) Yeah I also like this model. The only probably I had with the drivetrain is that it's hard to motorize, but other than that it is quite innovative. And yeah, this set comes with tons of beams (I think the only set that might rival it in beam (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8880 Pleasure.....

(...) I agree - to a point. I was disappointed with the chain drive to the engine, as it occasionally slips, though this can be reduced. The main thing that disappointed me was the steering geometry. Because the racks are psitioned relatively high, (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8880 Pleasure...

(...) Totally agreed, Jason. I also recommend the 8868 AirTech Claw Rig as a pleasant diversion. Expensive and difficult to find, but a wonderful feat of Technic engineering. It has an on-board air compressor! - Sean (25 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  8880 Pleasure.....

Well after approximately 5 hours, I just finished building my recently acquired 8880 Supercar, and frankly it lives up to the hype... Very good working features, drivetrain is quite remarkable. The best part is the number of beams and other useful (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)
