First SE Michigan AFOL gets $400+ sets for only $30 TODAY!!

OK, Usually the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't" always comes to mind. But this is legit..... A friend got a large grocery bag of Lego from an acquaintance, and gave it to me. Well when I got it, there were something like (...)   Re: Next BrisLug fest?

(...) Sadly, I'll be in the category of Brisbanites and BLTC members not attending either Tara's gathering or Brickvention, as I am studying for my exams at the moment. Sigh! :-( My original plan had been to take 2 weeks holiday from work so I fit (...) (18 years ago, 7-Jun-06, to lugnet.loc.au)

Re: American LEGO culture different than German LEGO culture?

Well lets see there are a few things missing from this Doctors discussions.... 1) Most Lego sets from 1955-65 had one thing in common.... the picture on the box top had nothing to do with what was inside the box! 2) Until around 1965 most sets (...)   Re: American LEGO culture different than German LEGO culture?

(...) --SNIP-- (...) As with all generalisations this is likely to have some degree of truth to it. The article is a little trite but the point is interesting. I've certainly noticed that AFOLs from different countries tend to have different (...) (18 years ago, 6-Jun-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.de, lugnet.loc.us, FTX)

Re: American LEGO culture different than German LEGO culture?

(...) I guess I can't agree with the analogy, unless they're driving at something very different. American kids do NOT want to go build their own things. They follow the instructions, and they're done. True, I think the model often comes apart when (...) (18 years ago, 6-Jun-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.de, FTX)

American LEGO culture different than German LEGO culture?

Just saw this via Google News: (URL) Selling Lego and The "Culture Code" for Germany> by Clotaire Rapaille (June 6, 2006) DNA makes a creature human, but what makes someone an American? Is there a "culture code" that programs us to become German, or (...) (18 years ago, 6-Jun-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.de, FTX)

Re: First Lego Sales In Portugal in 1957?

Nuno, You have a #210 Small Shop set (produced 1955-65). What is the name on the Named Beam in that set? I have seen 3 variations on that sign for Germany (TABAK, WUERSTCHEN and BACKER). I was wondering what variation was sold in the #210 sets for (...) (18 years ago, 6-Jun-06, to lugnet.loc.pt)

Sydney LEGO Train Club - SLTC # 3

In order to avoid possible clashes with the school holidays we have moved the date forward to Saturday 24th June. So only 3 weeks until the next get-together. We just need to confirm a venue. Keep working away at those modules and features. -pete.w (18 years ago, 5-Jun-06, to lugnet.loc.au)
