I read with amusement some of the posts on legal matters concerning leaked
information. I treat this site as a discussion group. People just talking
about Lego etc just as if they were face to face. What has this got to do • with
lawyers ??? If someone has some information and want to share it.....why • not
share it.And as for the legal issues.........this is purely a US • thing....we
in Europe have freedom of information, freedom of speech etc etc

I'm not sure if that is correct. I'm not a lawyer or anything but AFAIK
there are European laws that safeguard privacy ... and
Non-Disclosure-Agreements are also made in Europe.

The 2001 sets is private information of TLC and their partners. If you
publish (private) information other laws apply than when talking face to
face, and information requestable at any given time via the Internet is
AFAIK concidered publishing. That is why Todd (CMIAW) was asked to remove
the postings that published the information itself but you are still allowed
to 'speculate' about the sets, see:
http://news.lugnet.com/lego/direct/?n=512 as long as it doesn't contain
setnumbers, setnames etc. Or am I missing something, Todd?
So even as European, I can perfectly understand why Todd was requested to
cancel the posts, and since it's company information I can imagine that they
let their legal department deal with it, because if they don't - the next
time it will be harder when , perhaps even more secret/private, info is
leaked...
