Oh, definitely. It would be great to see some lego models, particularly of
the Gundam Wing or Transformers line. I think that would be definitely
innovative, and contribute to some great sales. Unfortunately, I think
the Gundam License is owned by a separate company, so I don't think that
will happen any time soon, although that would be cool.
I would, however, like to see lego launch into a true mecha line. I'm tired
of looking at Bionicle and LoM and thinking 'this is lego's answer to mecha?'
A dedicated line would be awesome, and I think if lego were to give some
thought to why bionicle is popular in the first place (because people think
they're mecha), then possibly they'll initiate a production line. Here's
hoping to see some intelligable design, and wicked functions!

Probably because they still want to reap as much profit from bionicle,and
if they were to launch into a mecha line too quickly, that would actually
compete with the series, and contradict their whole market plan. I heard a
rumor that bionicle is slated to continue until 2004, so Im hoping to see a
new mecha line in the distant future. Also, the gundam lisense I think, Is
owned by Hasbro, so that's out of the question.

I mentioned that earlier in a post to Aaeon West and Rick Hallman on that
issue, and I do think that is very hypocritical. Star wars, westerns, space,
castle, you name it, they all have some sort of weaponry, so I have no idea
why lego wouldn't launch into more now. They've already crossed the line of
their own creed, so forget about it, TLC. Too bad about Xenogears, butan
original mecha theme would be cool, but I have my doubts about seeing that
any time soon.

Yeah, we saw it on LoM, compounded with a bad color scheme, so I think they
would either have to hire a new development team to design and incorporate
other mecha elements into these. I agree with you on the stance of
Juniorization. Particularly, I hate it because it does drive up prices, and
make thesets less attractive, less expandable, and diminishes theiralternate
building capacilities. This is a trnd thatshould be reversed. It may drive
down prices for production, but loses in the long run.

Yeah, they should bring back the original star wars production run, because
I need snowspeeders and x wings very badly, and of course, tie fighters.
There were a lot of great parts that completely revolutionalized the
boundaries of
the the science fiction area. One gem in particular was, believe it or not, the
Naboo Fighter, sure the yellow color scheme was messed, but it was that one
windshield that changed the medium for a great space creation.

| (...) The listed copyright owners of the core Gundam series are Sotsu Agency and Sunrise. Bandai is the only company that I can think of that is currently producing Gundam related merchandise. There is a reason for this though, Sunrise is a (...) (22 years ago, 12-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.lego.direct)
