This whole thread has gotten out of hand!
This seems to be the point where the "public" communications fall apart. I
don't wish to take sides, particularly where we're all assumed to be on the
*same* side. For what it's worth, what I see here is a communication
between two people, each with a staggering amount of responsibility, trying
to follow rules imposed upon them by their affiliations, and yet say what
they mean.
Sometimes, despite our best intentions, a plan which seems simple on the
surface can be too difficult to implement. Sometimes for reasons which are
only apparent to one "side". I think the chief problem at this point is a
breakdown of the mutual respect required for any intelligent conversation.
Regardless of what the apparent (and hidden) issue may be, I believe any
emotionally packed responses can only contribute to conflict, and should be
confined to personal email, or the like. As an AFOL, I am disheartened to
see what appears to be petty conflict strewn through the pages of LUGNET. I
dislike this from fellow FOL's, and I dislike it from administrators and
LEGO representatives as well.
If a solution cannot be worked out to mutual satisfaction, perhaps we should
all agree to disagree. Not all difficulties can be worked out in life.
Sometimes we just have to say, "Oh, well. That's life!" and get on with
said life.
In short, (woops! too late!) whether TLC participation on LUGNET continues
or not, I would feel a lot better if I didn't read arguments worthy of high
school cafeteria gossip on the pages of LUGNET, particularly in discussions
of the future of one of my favorite websites. I love LUGNET! I love LEGO!
But if petty bickering continues, I will visit here less and less.
Concerned,
Tim Romine
