ouch.
I saw this and was so appalled I just had to reply.

I don't know Jake, but to see Suzanne make assumptions
about his character and his motivations is shocking.
The tenor of Jake's verbage is clear and professional.
By contrast, the tenor of Suzanne's is petty and childish.
(We assume about other's behaviour that which we hate
most about our own)

I for one get the sense that here is a fan community
that is making it difficult for the representatives of
the fandom to interact w/ the fans.  Would a RockBand
fan club site be so rude and difficult w/ the RockBand?

This is baffling to me (at best), and suicidal for the fan
community at large (at worst).

Here's hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel...

Why am I not answering questions on LUGNET?

Most questions of LEGO actually get asked outside of lego.direct. Since I
can't answer those questions "officially" and I'm not sure what the
appropriate method of cross linking the answer with the question, I feel
uncomfortable posting about that issue out of context. I would absolutely
love if I could, along with other LD employees, post directly to a question
with a few brief lines to answer a question in context. Unfortunately,
LUGNET prohibits this.

Thank you, Jake.
I just wanted to confirm my suspicion.[1]

Such a lack of maturity from one who's actions reflect on The LEGO Company
is very disappointing. But, your 'using' of this community is inexcusable.

[1] Since our last phone conversation a few months ago, in which Jake again
asked for sitewide posting and I answered in the negative, he has been
giving this entire community the 'silent treatment' in hopes to 'get his way.'

(...) Perhaps so, but only because the representatives of the fandom have made it at times difficult to remain fans (of this particular interactive medium, at least). If Jake is truly worried that AFOL's will object to such LD comments as "we can't (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
