If you're desperate, you can always try the shops at www.bricklink.com
...that's what I do, when I'm in situations like yours. I don't have LEGO
Direct / S@H here in Portugal, so all I can do is browse www.ebay.com and
www.bricklink.com for spare parts, rare/old sets :(
I'd like to have access to LEGO Direct / S@H as much as the next guy.

| Hi, I'm just spending my spare time with cleaning my technic sets and replacing the defect parts. On my 8448 the technic shock absobers (clear) were broken. Same at 8446. A small tube from 8445's steering was lost. So I ordered spare parts for three (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
