Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) Then I must be mistaken. My apologies. It was my understanding that at least one of the original thoughts behind LEGO Direct was that it would provide sets directly to consumers, in much they way you can effectively 'shop' on eBay. As well, I (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) Agreed. And conversely, not everyone who spends a lot of money on new LEGO sets *is* a fan. This is just a personal beef of mine, not the way that LEGO should do business. (...) Or rather they *had* high ideals. (...) I totally agree. Which is (...) (23 years ago, 22-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: 10020 Santa Fe available to Oz!

(...) I believe that's where the numbers will be. Haven't gleaned yet whether the certificate will be numbered as well. From discussions in .trains, it appears the numbers are printed (not stickers!). Also the round windows on the side are printed (...)   Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) That is high praise, indeed! I hope LEGO can continue to create sets of similar quality to the Super Chief... JohnG, GMLTC (who has five of them on order already!) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Lego Direct's Limits

(...) As I read Allan's comment (and as I interpreted the "so many different sets in production" line above), the situation is: TLC currently has many, many sets in production[1]. Lego Direct is allotted a small portion of TLC's production capacity. (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) Just because somebody has ready money to spend, doesn't mean they aren't true Lego fans. Besides, Lego isn't in the business to sell to "true fans". They are in it to make money. Yes, they have high ideals. But without a doubt, Ole Kirk (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.trains)

Re: 10020 Santa Fe available to Oz!

I know these are individually numbered, but the pics show on the front of the engine #27 and #301... is this where the numbers will be also? Or is that just some other weird thing? I've no idea... I don't delve into much when it comes to the (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.loc.nz, lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) ??? I think LD couldn't care less about what goes on at ebay. (...) Well, how about this scenario: what would you rather have, this set run over 60,000 sets, or 3 sets of the same car in alternate road color schemes. As far as "limited (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) The sooner a LEGO Direct item becomes unavailable, the sooner that item begins to show up on eBay at inflated prices. Isn't that one of the things LEGO Direct was supposed to help stop? I am personally against any sort of 'Limited Edition' (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)
