Re: Jake McKee's Speech: How LEGO Caught the Cluetrain

Nice speech. I know of quite a few other companies that could stand to learn this kind of stuff, especially the bits about talking more to the users of your products (even when they aren't your direct customers). (18 years ago, 4-Apr-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, lugnet.people)

Re: Jake McKee's Speech: How LEGO Caught the Cluetrain

(...) Thanks for sharing! It serves as a reminder of what has happened, and what can happen. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on it in due course. Cheers Richie Dulin (18 years ago, 3-Apr-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, lugnet.people)

Re: Jake McKee's Speech: How LEGO Caught the Cluetrain

(...) That was a great presentation.. although I would have preferred Jake mentioned the 2005 NMRA layout was actually 3500 square feet (75x50) as opposed to 75 square feet. I know Jake's a busy guy, and he probably sees dozens of numbers per day, (...) (18 years ago, 3-Apr-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, lugnet.people)

Jake McKee's Speech: How LEGO Caught the Cluetrain

An industry buddy of mine sent me a link to this speech that Jake McKee gave at the "There's a New Conversation" conference which, IIRC, highlighted 10 years of the Cluetrain Manifesto. Jake tells a lot of the story of taking LEGO from a company in (...) (18 years ago, 3-Apr-08, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, lugnet.people) !

Lego factory gallery ratings and deep linking?

Why can't I view the factory gallery by rating?...or popularity? Even better: by search key word (or theme) listed in popular/high rated order? (Just like Lego.com shop at home site) I WOULD BUY A LOT MORE LEGO from the factory sets if I could see (...) (19 years ago, 12-Mar-08, to lugnet.lego)

Re: LEGO TV on Comcast on Demand

The Bellaire Ohio Toy Museum is on Comcast as well. We made the news makers last month, and we are working on a monthly program as well. Saw the LEGO(r) comcast, very cool stuff!!! I am hoping to get some real graphics for a TV commercial in the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Mar-08, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

Type of metal used in 9V Track?

Does anyone know what type of metal the 9V track rails are made of? Is it copper? Nickel Alloy of some kind? Thanks, Scott (19 years ago, 27-Feb-08, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego)

LEGO S@H opens for Poland, Hungary and Norway?

Hi there, Since yesterday, some interesting changes are observed on S@H page: - when accessed from Poland, site shows Polish flag next to the available countries - shop main page fails to load (like there were some localized resources missing) - the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Feb-08, to lugnet.lego)

Brick Testament image used on LEGO.com?!

Re: Poll for new Town Sets

I was hoping that the Ambassadors would make a new post to town, train, and announce, especially since they just announced a poll for Star Wars sets for 2009. While we wait for their post, I might want to add that the suggested sets should be aimed (...) (19 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.ambassadors, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: LEGO TV on Comcast on Demand

(...) Steve, Thanks very much! I'm having a blast watching the retro LEGO Sport movies. Hard to believe that they were brickfilming even back when I was only three. The Racing movie was hilarious. Oh, and enjoyed watching your video of PDX, too! (...) (19 years ago, 6-Dec-07, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: LEGO TV on Comcast on Demand

(...) This is awesome. Sometimes the comcast menus can be a little daunting to find something like this. You don't know the menu items do you? I'll be looking for it once I get home. (19 years ago, 4-Dec-07, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: LEGO TV on Comcast on Demand

(...) Very cool--especially for those of us using satellite TV and don't have Comcast. I do like the use of the 9V trains in the opening theme...too bad the 9V line is being discontinued... I love seeing the 2007 LEGO commercials!!! Scott (19 years ago, 4-Dec-07, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) Benn- In my experience keeping SCLTC trains running for the last 6 years (including a 10 week, 6 day a week show every year), what kills the train motors is erosion of metal contacts that pick up electricity from the rails. The contacts wear (...) (19 years ago, 10-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) <snip> (...) One evening, way back in 1991, I was pushing a baby stroller thru Toys R Us. My son, Graham, 2 years old, in the stroller. We went over to the toy train area - because I was looking forward to the day in the futrure when we could (...) (19 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) You are right, the main limitation probably comes from wall wart... You are essentially right for the 0.7A current (though it is not hard limit, rather a safety one). Philo (19 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics.nxt, lugnet.trains)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) The Australian LEGO wall wart is marked 10V @ 7VA on the secondary. I don't recall all the stuff I learnt about the relationship between VA and W, but that seems to me to indicate about 0.7A. I believe this generally reduces as load increases, (...) (19 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics.nxt, lugnet.trains)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) I did some research on this several years ago. At the time it was to pursue the idea of wider radii curves. But now it's of even more interest with the 9v track going away. I drew up several different ideas, and even contacted someone in a (...) (19 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, FTX)
