Ludo,
The box is from the 1960's. If the bricks have posts in them, then they are
from the late 1960's. If they are hollow, then they are from the mid 1960's.
Most early 1960's boxes were two pieces: a sleeve that slid over a tray. Your
box looks like it is one whole box.
Is there a country of origin printed on the side of the box? The PTT is Dutch,
the others are British.
I keep a gallery of printed bricks on Brickshelf, may I add your photos to it?

I also keep a gallery of boxes. My info on boxes is slim. I don't know exactly
what, if any, designs appeared on both tray & whole style boxes. Lugnet shows a
tray version of the 226, but with a different box design.

Hope that helps,
Clark

Hi,

I got this box a few weeks ago from a Lego fan, who went to a little toy
shop in the neighborhood. The owners are closing down the shop, and found a
verry old original Lego box on the attey with the original bricks in it. The
box has number 226 and contains 6 white 1*6 bricks and 2 1*8 bricks. All
bricks have text on it (Garage, Snack Bar,Hotel,Station,Taxi,Cinema,P.T.T).
I can't figure out how old this box / set is. There's no date printed on the
box.
Regards,
Ludo
