Are we discounting the possibility that there are multiple variations of the
Hogwarts school uniform? My school certainly did. Indeed, we had completely
different uniforms for winter (navy tunic and white blouse) and for summer
(two varieties of apple green dress). We even had different hats and ties
for our winter and summer uniforms. And then there were our sports uniforms,
our church frocks, etc. Loads of variation.
Lots of Ye Olde Englishe Boardinge Schooles (on which Hogwarts is clearly
based) have ridiculous rules on clothing for students in different years,
e.g. senior boys wear boaters and junior boys wear caps, etc. So the
variations in Harry's uniforms could reflect his uniform in the school in
different years. No doubt the change in skin colour can be attributed to the
passage of time too, and we can all rest easy knowing he has now recovered
from that bad case of jaundice.
