1st of all, I just select "tools, download all," so having
to go to two different servers is not really noticeable.
OE seems to handle it ok.

The only benefits I could see might be receiving some posts
sooner rather than later, and not needing to worry about
wasting time downloading large binaries. I might also see
my posts sooner, but that doesn't really matter.

The question I would have is how much more sophisticated
are the spam-bots becoming? Would they not report server-
imposed blockage, and then search posts for server routings?
Would it then be possible for it to search out servers and
then post to groups from which it might not have previously
been able? When it finds LUGnet, it would presumably return
the "not registered to enabling posting" response, generating
a similar report? The spammer, curious, might then check out
the LUGnet groups, see the generally higher income-bracket
of which LUGnet users are comprised, register, then sell the identity
to enable spam posting? I admit to being very ignorant as to
how spamming and Usenet in general work! But if I were to
develop/sell spam-bots, I would try to develop it such as it
can spam the greatest number of people and NG's as possible....

Basically, though, I am indifferent. If it is carried, I would switch
the group to which I subscribe from my ISP's server, to this
one, if only to benefit from binary-blocking.

(...) This is why I would say don't include RTL, you start to get into issues like this. Besides, if you have to filter messages by non approved posters, what's the point of carrying RTL any ways. Anyone who is approved will probably already be (...) (26 years ago, 30-Nov-98, to lugnet.general)
