I gotta weigh in on the cynical side, but who would have expected
anything else from me?
I'm reminded, after seeing several "finally, a first step" messages,
of the gushy responses to the new parts packs this year - black roof
bricks, black and white plates, green bricks, etc. "Wow, maybe TLG
is finally listening to us! We've wanted these for years."
And what do we hear about next year - no more parts packs.
I'm not from Missouri, but I'm very much a "Show me" kind of person.
TLG is making a minimal effort to take advantage of mentioning AFOLs
on one of their many websites. Good for them. Maybe good for us,
well, good for the small number of us who actually care about
Mindstorms.
I'm not ASSuming anything about where this will lead, nor will I
waste time in being hopeful about it. The Mindstorms crowd just got
a very small bone thrown to them, perhaps. I'll be less cynical
when the rest of us, the bulk of us (no pun intended) get our own
little bone. I'll be convinced TLG actually gets "the brick" when
we get a nice t-bone steak, not thrown to us, but sold to us for the
good money we all have to spend on it.
